Default What is Blu-ray?

Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD) is the name of a next-generation optical disc format. The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. For more general information about Blu-ray, please see our What is Blu-ray? section.

Talk about wave of the future here...I mean you could put like 5 movies on a single disc or even 10 movies on a dual layered disc

WOW is all I have to say!!!!

Sure, you could put several movies on a single disc, but do you think the MPAA will go for that? Of course not.

Cool mpaa

That's the mpaa's problem. I think the blu ray is an awesome deal. That way we could have all our favorite movies on one disc. What a way to go. But does it require different equipment to run or copy to? Hmmm. Does anyone know?

Default Next Generation of DVD

The blue ray will have troubles competing with HD-DVD, as the common consumer is completely unaware of the impending format wars. However, Blue Ray contains more information than HD-DVD and therefore is more likely to edge out the competition.
