Google maps on your phone
Google announced Tuesday that they will be offering maps of 30 different US cities with live traffic information. So now we can turn on our phones, hook up to the internet, and check out literally what's coming up next.

Now that would be nifty. Maybe they could find a way to work a GPS into the phone as well, so you could see where you're going.

Good idea, but not very helpful in my area. I have been to bigger cities where there is actually a radio station that only gives out traffic reports. There was a movie out that I watched a few years ago where this kid wanted to be a traffic reporter. Anyone know what I am talking about? That was actually the first time I had heard of such a thing. Around here drivers might call into a radio station to report an accident that has blocked a main road or a detour, but that is about it. It would be neat of something like Goggle Earth could incorporate their program into this. That way you could see the line of traffic, how fast it is moving, and if there is another route to take. Who knows, maybe there already is something like that. (I'm a little behind some of this technology).

That's why I'm thinking a GPS would be handy. It would tell the computer you're talking to where you are so it can tell you where to go next to avoid the upcoming jam or accident.

That could actually work, but in a different way. I've often found that when listening to a traffic report, they give alternate routes to take. Now everyone else who is listening, hurries off to take those routes, freeing up the original jammed route. I've done this before, ignored the alternate route and kept going and got through with little delay. Its the alternate routes that ended up jammed.

Too funny
That's pretty clever, and kind of comical too. Good advice.
