Default Cell phone mergers

With the recent cell phone mergers- Cell One to Alltel and Nextel and Sprint, which company out there seems to be the best and most stable company at the moment?

It proably depends on which areas the providers serve. Out here in SD I doubt that not all the phone companies can provide service out here. I imagine eventrually they will but not now. So we are blessed with whatever is available.

I think Verizon will be fairly stable in this area. They seem to have a solid nationwide coverage and can support the cost of towers and service to the more remote areas. Cell One was questionable in my area from the beginning. They had few towers and those they did have provided weak signals.

I've had Verizon for a while. I'm pretty happy with the service, particularly the customer service. If they make a mistake, they not only fix it but have given me free minutes to make up for it. I'll probably stick with them for a while. Has anyone had multiple providers and can say which one they prefer?

Verizon didn't work where we lived before so we got Cellone (alltel now) and we haven't had any problems with them, but I have no idea which one is the best now with all the new towers going up and all that.
