Do you remember when cell phones and cordless phones used to be enormous? Take a look at a 1980s film like "Wall Street" starring Michael Douglas and you'll see him holding a gigantic phone while he stands on the beach. It's pretty funny.

That's funny you mention the size of the cell phones. Yesterday someone drove past my house with a big phone. I thought at first maybe they forgot and grabbed their phone from home. That happens in my house occasionally. Anyhow, then I saw her stop and dial a number and talk to someone. I thought it was humerous because of the size of the cell phones now. But on the smaller side it is always funny to see someone with a little cell fome by thier ear. I don't think those will take off too quickly. You look like you are talking to yourself then.

I'm a huge Star Trek fan, so I think its cool. Soon, people will be hunting with phasers, LOL. What you said about people thinking you're talking to yourself is funny. People always think that when I'm somewhere using my wireless headset to talk. Some look at me from the corner of their eye, others pretend to ignore me, but have one of those questioning looks on their face and others look at me like I'm insane. Once, while waiting at the deli counter for service, I was talking to my friend about her kid and said, "don't you remember what it was like to be a kid?" The other woman waiting at the counter turned to me and said, "I guess so", then turned back to the counter with a look on her face that said, "get me away from this crazed woman". I laughed and pointed out my headset and she turned red as a beet and apologized. I go thought that all the time.

Is it just me, or are the cell phones beginning to look more and more like the communicators from Star Trek? I'm waiting for them to become as small as a pin and we'll wear them like on SNG. It's interesting how science fiction movies and television of the past are maybe the visions of today, and maybe today's science fiction is what we can expect in the future. "Beam me up, Scotty."
