Default Texas Instruments: not just a calculator company

I was just thinking about this company when I discovered them in some tech news. Apparently they posted a 27 percent rise in quarterly earnings today (Monday) due to a strong handset demand and affirmed market expectations that growth would continue to be robust.

Texas Instruments is the biggest maker of chips for cellphones. How about that for some trivia. And here I thought they just made scientific calculators. Looks like I need to read the news more often.

I thought they did too. But I thought they filed for bankruptcy like years and years ago. Or maybe it didn't go through.

• Here is a list from the Texas Instrument website http://www.ti.com/ of what all of their products are. Quite a bit more than just a calculator. I think most electronic company’s are well known for one major product, but in order to stay in business must also produce other things as well. I remember I have always used a Texas Instrumetn calculator for all of my educational needs and for home use. I wouldn't buy anything else.

And I thought they just made calculators. I had no idea about the rest. I can't believe how much I've learned on this site.

Didn't TI make computers like in the late 80's or something? I vaguely remember seeing one.

Oh wow - now that's a blast from the past. And that would've been one old computer.
