Smile Outdoor Systems

I was at a friends house and they had an awesome speaker and stereo system outside.

How do you do something like that? I mean all those electronics being outside in the elements? Is there special electrical equipment that has to be used?

Are the speakers waterproof?

Who would you call to have something like that installed?

It was really neat and I can see how it would be so nice to sit on your back porch and listen to some of your favorite musics.

You can buy outdoor speakers that are specially shielded against moisture and humidity. I would assume that anyone who would install an indoor system could handle an outdoor, the components all work the same.

We have a neighbor with a sound system in his backyard. It sounds like a good idea in theory, but you need to keep in mind that your neighbors might not appreciate the concert if they are trying to sleep.

Default Outdoor sound

I was in a rock band for many years. We did outdoor shows and events and had to deal with a variety of issues relating to outdoor sound systems. The main issues with outdoor sound include temperature, bugs, and dirt--to name a few. Direct sunlight can also deteriorate speaker components; such as, wiring and speaker cones. Extended periods of high humidity can increase the rate of oxidation of the metal components. Extreme temperatures can cause warping and cracking of speaker parts and enclosures. These problems can be kept to a minimum by following the manufactures instructions for care and maintenance of the product...so says Sir Kit.

Thumbs up outdoor systems

A friend of mine has monuted speaker system outside under the eves on both the upper and lower deck of his house. He also has Sirus Satellite Radio. He lives out in the country with the nearest neighbor about 1/2 mile. Its pretty cool because we can have music all the time swimming, or during a bonfire or whatever. The biggest pain is the controls are in the house but as long as the volume and stations ok it's well worth the few extra bucks to wire speakers out there. I have also seen people who have a seperate system in thier garage but there is always that hollow sond to the tunes when you have it in a space lice that. If you mount the speakers well under and eve it doesn't really get alot of the weather.

Will the outdoore systems work in the frigid temperatures of the northern climate? Or would a person have to take down the speakers during the winter or during really heavy rain storms.

Weather is always something to consider. If taking down the speakers is easy, then it may be wise to do so for severe weather. Outdoor speakers should be rated as such and generally can withstand mother nature. Northern climates can be tough on anything that is outdoors. But, it would be nice to have some snow shoveling music!

Wowsers -- I think that's a logical assumption, but I don't know that one.
