Post Tubes headed downhill

A recent projection poll I saw projected that while over 70% of households worldwide utilize the CRT, by 2009, the gurus project this number will be down to 45% and the LCD market will move from around 20 % of households to 50%. I can't imagine spending money on an LCD right now, but with time, like anything else, this will change.

I just read an article in The New York Times about picture tube televisions. Companies are downsizing them. In 2004 they(picture tubes) represented 78% of the sales market and this year will only account for 54%. More and more manufacturers are lowering production of them. Along with more stores decreasing sales of picture tubes and increased sales of Plasma and LCD'S, we can expect them to fade out of the market in the next few years. I have four picture tube televisions, I hope they last until the others lower their price!

I think it's too bad that companies are downsizing their production of the tubes. I'm wondering if this will make them go up in price as well with less products available.

I doubt their prices will go up, unless they put some new technology or something in them.
