RAW format loved by photo fanatics
I've never heard of this format, but apparently this mode of photos wrings every last drop of quality out of yoru photos. It is lossless and offers more color depth than JPEG and TIFF. It lets you extract more detail from your photos in Adobe Photoshop and PHotoshop Elements.
Apparently different cameras call the RAW file a different name. Nikon calls them NEF while Canon uses both CRW and CR2.
This format requires more work on your part b/c you have to apply white balance, tweak the colors, and perhaps add sharpening ot the image. YOu can not save your chagnes to RAW files and thus have to keep two copies of the photo -- the original RAW version adn the edited JPEG orTIFF file.
