Question which digital camera should i buy?

I don't know very much about digital camera specifics.
i don't know how big a gigs or megabites is.
or what MV8347 whatevers are.
i should learn... I'm trying to pick up on it, but i haven't gotten there yet, which proposes a problem since i want to buy one.
i want a large memory-ed, display screened, video recording, portable, less than $300 (preferably closer to $250 or so), good-quality camera.
if you had to reccommend one for these purposes let me know.
i don't want to be 20th century girl!

As far as mega-pixels go, how big of a photo are you wanting to print out? If you want to be able to get a clear 8x10, you really don't want anything below 5.0 mega-pixels.

I agree that 5 megapixels should be a reasonable bottom line for someone who is looking to purchase a new camera. Other than that, the zoom capabilities are something worth taking into consideration and of course it depends what type of pictures you will be taking most of the time. With all the different brands out there you should be able to find a nice camera that fits your needs in that $200 - $300 range.

You can always check into eBay and amazon.com for good deals, as well.

I was surprised by some of the cheap online camera websites. I've been drooling over a Canon that retails for $800 at Walmart but only $500 at these different sites.

I think you could probably buy a camera at walmart for less money and still have a good quality one.
but I also agree that you need to ask lots of questions until you get the right answer. We have a sony for about 5 years now and really love it.

Buy at least 5 megapixel and one that has good zoom, so you can get closer to your subject matter. Also get a camera that you can buy 2 sets of AA rechargeable batteries to use with...

Yep - I agree with moon123. A nice zoom lense makes a big difference too.
