Default Night pictures

I have a sony digital camera that has night framing and night shot modes on it. While these are probably not used a whole lot, they sure are fun to play around with.

What time of year have you used this feature? Does it matter if there's a lot of starlight/moonlight? I'm really curious because there have been many picture perfect moments at night and I never thought to try taking a picture with my digital. I tried once or twice with my 35 mm but there wasn't enough lighting and as an amatuer photographer, I don't want to spend for all the trappings to take night photos.

Can you imagine the possibilities. Outdoor holiday scenes, fireworks, campfires to name just a few. You're right, It must be fun.

I have to admit I have not used the feature a whole lot, but the nightshot feature uses infared light to illuminate your picture, while the night framing mode uses infared light to let you see what you want to take a picture of and then lets the flash take over.
