Default What DVD have you liked lately?

With all this technology talk and reviews, I did not see anything on here about DVD reviews. I am always looking for a good DVD or trying to stay away from a bad one. What have you liked or not?

Default Good DVD's

Call me crazy, but my favorite DVD that I have recently purchased is Phantom of The Opera. I’m pretty funny because I always want to own movies so I buy movies or burn TV shows and then I watch as they collect dust bunnies and spider webs on them. I never have a need to watch a movie I previously have seen, however any musical can be watched over and over and well worth the buy. Moulin Rouge was another favorite DVD that I watch a lot. Oh yeah, and any movie with Johnny Depp is a must to own.

Smile Phantom of the Opera

I have not seen that DVD and was debating on whether I should. Is it mostly singing or does it have talking parts? Is it all in english or does it translate on parts? I have always heard from people that went to the opera that it was one of the best, but wondered how it would translate to DVD.

Default Phantom Of the Opera

The movie is great!!! Almost the entire movie is singing, but when you watch the movie the story is told so well that it is almost hard to notice. As for the opera part you have to realize that it is sang in English and very understandable. It isn’t what you would expect because it’s not really an opera but a musical about an opera house.

As a mommy who doesn't get to go to the movies, I love staying in and watching a Netflix. Lately I've enjoyed "Million Dollar Baby", "North Country", and "The Notebook". I saw "Transamerica" last night and didn't really care for it. I couldn't really relate to the story, and my husband stopped watching it half-way through.

I got the movie "Chicago", and I enjoyed it for what it was. I don't think the trailers and movie hype did it justice as a musical. If you're up for a thriller/western type thing, I also got "Missing" with Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett. I've seen it several times and still pick out new things. It's not your typical western.

I recently saw a DVD I definitely didn't enjoy. It was called "Transamerica". I know Felicity Huffman was nominated for best actress, but I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. My husband refused to watch after the first 30 minutes.

My husband would say his favorite movies to watch on DVD are "Black Hawk Down" and "Saving Private Ryan". Anything about war is a hit with him.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned any of the Star Wars movies. I also think watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy on DVD is a fun experience.
