Does SD look really bad on HD TVs?
As there are only a handfull of HD TV Channels and few HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Discs about, how are all you HD TV owners finder SD TV Broadcasts & SD DVDs; worse than watching SD on a SD TV or better?

Better (or at least the same). For me, it's probably down to the HDMI connection and nothing to do with the TV itself.

No real difference as far as I can tell. Of course it sometimes looks worse when you're changing from an HD channel to a something on an SD channel.

Our SkyHD box does seem to give a better picture on SD but it is all dependent on the channel IMO

Both from Sky+ boxes

Depends on the channel.
I find that it looks just as good (and in some cases better) than on my old CRT
The cheap channels like "budget shopping +1" look terrible, whereas BBC and SkyOne etc... look pretty good.

I think a lot of it depends on the TV too. Plasma seems to better LCD with ropey Sky and Freeview images.

TV does have a dramatic affect, i upgraded from a 37" pe30 panasonic plasma to a pioneer PDP436XDE HD set and the pic is better from SKY+ on the new set despite going up in size. It does depend on the set, some HD sets look poor an SD and some look better.
PIC is affected by the broadcast but this isnt the tvs fault eg if you are watching the news, when in the studio the pic is great but when they go out on location for a report to say Iraq it is worse. This all down to how its recorded etc (the better the TV pic the more it will show up any flaws in the transmission).

There's nothing wrong with standard definition per se, its the fact that often the people delivering the content don't give it the treatment nor the space it deserves. I haven't had chance to witness HDTV in the UK yet, but I truly hope they've learnt something since the, frankly, mess that is SDTV Digital broadcasting in the UK.
Watching Sky Mix back on NTL last year used to make me feel physically ill, no joke.
