Default DVD Recorder/Copyright Error

O.K, Here is a quick how to question for any of you. I have recently stumbled upon a fabulous deal and bought a DVD Recorder/Player for Sixty dollars and can record shows on television or make home videos. On the other hand every time I try to burn a movie from VCR to the DVD player I get an error stating that I am not allowed to burn copyrighted material. Now this wouldn’t make me so mad, however I had a friend send me a VHS of my wedding and I still get this error. Call me crazy, but I know I didn’t copyright my wedding. Is there any way I can fix this problem?

There's not a single thing you can do. You can thank the bullying tactics of the MPAA for that wonderful feature.

I have no advice but I just wanted to say I'm sorry you can't even burn a copy of your own wedding.

I really am sorry about your situation. I came across a website that stated that sounded like you would still be able to copy movies and avoid the copywright error. I can't remember the name because I had no interest in it at the time. I'll try to find it for you.

The one I came across I will paste for you. But it looks like you have to pay. They have a demo, though so I don't know what that would be. Maybe someone can tell us of a free site.

Good luck.

Yes, there are programs available that will let you bypass the copyright block. Word of caution -- it is illegal.

However, you should be able to copy any tape that you recorded to your dvd. I don't know why your dvd player is giving you that statement. It shouldn't.
