Default DVD Rentals

What does everyone think about renting DVDs from a store like Blockbuster versus online on netflix.com? We have a membership to both places, but I can't say I have walked into a Blockbuster in the last 3 or 4 months. Netflix is very convenient because you set up a queue with all of the movies you're interested in seeing, and then the titles are automatically shipped to you. Our plan is $15 a month, and this includes the shipping charges. We spend that much at Blockbuster if we rent 3 or 4 movies, but with Netflix we average about 8 movies a month. The only issue I have with Netflix is that often a title I want to see has a long wait, so I will have to choose a less popular movie to see.

In all honesty, I haven't rented any DVDs in a very long time. We have all the premium movie channels, so that's how we watch movies we want to see.

Our town doesn't have a rental place. I don't know how well an on-line service would work, since it takes forever and a day to get things in the mail.

Actually, Blockbuster Online seems to be pretty speedy in getting DVDs to you. The only problem I've encountered is that a lot of times they have a long wait for particular titles. Most titles can get to you within a day or two.

I think the premium channels repeat the same movies over and over, so it can get boring really quickly. I like Netflix because the movies arrive within a day or two, and you don't have to deal with the lines at Blockbuster.

I think a while back Blockbuster was in trouble financially because of the competition from Netflix and other online DVD rental sites. That is probably why blockbuster.com started offering the same service.

Blockbuster online also offers subscribers coupons for free movie/game rentals from their stores, and "buy one get one free" offers for previously viewed DVDs. The free game rentals basically pay for your monthly subscription, with games renting for something like $7 from blockbuster stores now. It's insane. You can almost buy some games for that much.

I think $7 to rent a game is a little much. Even though Blockbuster is offering coupons, it seems like Netflix and the other online rental companies are less expensive.

Netflix has come down in their monthly fee quite a bit. My friend has not had any problem with netflix but I have been watching the forum here and there are some people sayingthat they have had problems receiving their movies scratched up. It doesn't bother my friend to have to wait a little for a certain movie. He's a movie buff so he can watch other movies while he's waiting.
