Default Data Backup DVD or CD

I have made lots of home movies, which i want to backup so which media is better for long term backup [10yrs or so], and i should go for which company Sony , Hp or more economical Mosaer Baer and there any difference in storing on cd or dvd,

It also depends on how much you use them. If you record a cd and then leave it alone in such a way that it does not get scratched, then you can pretty much expect the data to be there whenever you try it.
One thing, DVDRs have a much shorter life than CDRs apparently due to organic dyes, or so I have heard.

10 yrs !!! No way dude. Best media like Taiyo Yuden might last maybe 2 or 3 yrs at the max.

Dvds have a shorter life span that cdrs? I just learned soemthing new .I also agree with the 10 year thing. No way!
