Default DVD as storage units

The DVD technology is booming and with Blu-Ray a ways down the road for conventional use this is the way to store your data not to mention your movies.

With current coding out there it is hard to code DVD's so making backups is extremely hard or at least that is what I have heard.

But storing data on DVD's is great because you will be able to store GIGs of information on DVD's as opposed to MEGS of data.

Big difference there and for those that don't know the difference is for every gig you have 1000 megs. If that helps you visualize how much your saving. So if you can hold 4 gigs or 5 gigs of information on a DVD then you will be saving 4000-5000 megs worth which is like 6-7 CD's worth of information.

DVD's are the current trend and the next wave is Blu-Ray which OH MY GOD they can store a lot!!!! Like 5 times that of DVD's but yeah see my thread about that!!!

Wait, why would you be hard coding anything to make a backup?

Default DVD storage

I suppose if you have a lot of information that you need saved you would need to store in the GIG range vs. the Megs range. I just have a hard time seeing what you would need to store on even more than that. I never have a problem saving all my photos on a simple CD and unless they are Digital X-Ray images or something like that I couldn’t imagine them taking up so much room.

With the dvd r/wr you can keep adding to that dvd can't you? Or am I wrong. It would be nice to have all my stuff organized so that allmy photos are on one disc.. All my work files are on another, etc. I can keep adding, right?
