First video game
Its really hard to tell. I think the first video game was created by a scientist named Michael Higinbotham in 1958. He invented a game called "Tennis for Two" that was designed to be played on a Brookhaven National Laboratory oscilloscope. An oscilloscope is a special instrument designed to measure electrical current. It's not meant for games! Mr. Higingbotham created the game for visitors to the laboratory who came to see exhibits. His game was a hit! You can actually watch a nifty movie of the game at the Brookhaven web site. It wasn't until much later that video games became hugely popular. Atari's Pong came out in 1975, and the rest is history.
