Are there certain kinds of dvrs that you have to buy for either your brand of television or what kind of satellite service you receive? Are are they basically one size fits all? Thanks

Our first DVR came with our satellite service (Dish network). We have Tivo now, and that came with Direct TV. Both came as an addition to our regular package.
