Digital Video Recorder
If you are looking to replace your old VCR with something from today's world, look no further than the Digital Video Recorder.
Otherwise known as a DVR, this new device can actually tape your favorite programming without the use of a VHS.
A DVR actually acts like a computer in which is stores whatever was recorded onto a hard drive. You can get ones that record anywhere from 20 hours all the way up to 100 hours.
Most of the cable companies out there offer them and the two major dish companies offer them as well. No need to set your VCR everytime your favorite show is on. Just program is to tape everytime it is on and it will tape it for you. It is a great way to watch your programming whenever you want.

Do they make DVR's that can record more than 100 hours? Or maybe you can get an extra storage card or something?

Oooh good question. I hate the fact that I go to record something I REALLY want and it lets me know that I can't because I need to clean off my memory. Then again, maybe that's just bad management. Do we really NEED more than 100 hours?

The 100 hour thing is my complaint too. You would be amazed at how fast that fills up. I am sure that storage options will become available as these become more and more popular.

I found one: Tivo came out with a DVR that records 180 hours: the 180-hour Tivo Series 2 DT DVR that retails for about $130.

They are going to have to come out with some sort of removable storage device because even 180 isn't going to last long by the time you record a whole season of a couple of your favorite shows, a handfull of movies, and of course your favorite team's entire season of games.
