Question Frustrations and Questions: Multi-Disc Sets, Seamless Branching, etc.

Not sure where this topic fits, so I'm starting a new thread. Feel free to merge it somewhere else if appropriate.

So I bought into HD DVD partially based on the Warner chat earlier this year, where they promised same-day catalogue title releases and day and date new releases, as well as their bevy of upcoming releases (Superman set, Kubrick set, Blade Runner, Maltese Falcon, etc.). I also bought into it because of the preliminary studio lists from various events (Star Trek Ultimate Movie Collection, Matrix trilogy, Friends, etc.).

But this thread isn't so much about "where are these titles?" so much as "how will these releases work?" For instance, the upcoming Superman set: will there actually be an HD version of the 8-disc (or alleged 14-disc) set? And if/when Terminator 2 actually comes to HD DVD, will we be able to get the theatrical and extended versions? Or will I have to keep my SD version for the extended?

My point is: when we will start seeing multi-disc sets? How will they work? Will they have special packaging, like their SD counterparts? And if so, will they be the same size as the red HD cases or as the regular SD cases? And has there been any work on seamless branching capabilities for HD? Will that be a feature?

I'm just getting a bit nervous, as there are so many exciting possibilities for HD this year (and beyond), yet there has been mostly silence in terms of the actual products. Again, with the Superman set, they've announced the SD versions, but there was absolutely no mention of HD versions (outside of The Digital Bits' "assurance").

Add all of this to the growing frustration over last-minute announcements, conspicuous absences (WB for the last few weeks), pulled titles and upcoming 4th quarter announcements for SD, and I have to admit some degree of trepidation over the current state of HD.

Thoughts? Comments? Insider info? And yes, I am aware that the format is still in its infancy...but am I alone in wondering about these things?
