HD DVD-R's are out!
Moser Baer, known as the second largest manufacturer of optical media discs in the world, has begun shipping its Gen-Next 15GB HD DVD-R (recordable) to global OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers.
Moser Baer claims that hence, it is now the world's first company to start volume shipments of HD DVD-R. The HD DVD-R has a capacity of 15 GB, and offers more than three times the data storage capacity of standard DVD media. According to the company, the HD DVD-R offers an ideal solution for reliable business back-up, including medical and government imaging, photography, videography, and high definition video recording.
Ratul Puri, executive director, Moser Baer, said, "The world is moving towards high definition content. This is a significant technology shift in the global optical media industry, and will radically change the consumer's viewing experience. According to US-based Strategic Marketing and Decisions, the demand for next generation high density formats is expected at 1.5 billion discs over the next three years. This represents an exciting opportunity for us, as Moser Baer now has the first mover advantage with this launch."
While Moser Baer continues to leverage its core skills in base material engineering, thin-film coating, precision sputtering, and deep UV mastering, it believes four of its products; DVDR Dual Layer, HD DVD-R (recordable) and RW (re-writable), HD DVD Dual layer, and BD-R and RE to create a major impact on the market of the future.
