This is just a theory. Feel free to disprove it.

What if Toshiba were holding back shipment of some players until BD launches?

Think of it: if people are going to check out a player (J6P-type), see both players and decide to go with the one that's 1/2 the price of the other, the store will have stock right then and there.

Or they could just send shipments out now and sell-out by the time BD comes out. At that point, people might just see the BD and talk themselves into it.

Call me crazy but it might be a possibility.
