Our industry sources have checked in with unofficial word on what's up with 20th Century Fox's Blu-ray Disc release plans. It seems that, rather than announcing titles now and then having to delay them due to a lack of hardware, the studio is simply waiting for firm player availability dates from the Blu-ray supporting manufacturers (Sony, Pioneer, Samsung, etc...) before making their announcements. Once the hardware launch is more firm, however, look for around 20 launch titles to be ready to go from the studio. Fox's first release waves are expected to include a number of big recent theatrical titles and plenty of catalog material. Watch also for numerous day and date (with DVD) Blu-ray releases from the studio throughout the rest of 2006.
