Where will You get your BD Release Info from?
I'm sure I'm not the only one here who plans on replacing some of their DVDs with BDs (Blue Ray only, let's not get into HD-DVD here) in the near future. I know this is weird to many but I won't be replacing the DVDs due to picture and sound quality alone...it's all about the EXTRAs for our family.
Unfortunately, this website which links to Amazon for new releases is at the mercy of Amazon for it's information. In many cases, extras are unknown to Amazon and the other online retailers. Isn't there at least one or more sites that will post this information far enough in advance so that one knows if they want to double dip or not? It's a shame to miss out on online pre-order discounts and/or 1st week retail outlet discounts but if I don't see enough extras to justify a double dip, then I won't bite (just as we don't now on regular DVDs if there isn't enough extra on a "special edition" etc.).

I'm sure amazon, dvdactive or other retailers with have final specs once they are released by the studios. Pre-order discounts don't look so hot at this point I'm sure they will go down after a few months of sitting on the shelf with not many buying em.

Most people just make thier supposed insider info up and present it as fact. So, to that end, every movie on Blu-Ray disc will contain 10,000 hours of bonus features, every movie ever made will be available for sale on launch day, each disc will be priced at $.01, and the PS3 will retail for $299.

I always found the news on this forum to be the most reliable, because unlike single news sites, our posters will put together information from 3 or 4 different sites, then someone will give the results of a side-by-side comparison with the laserdisc and three other people chime in comparing the image quality to the R3 version.
And then there's always Mao.

Best Buys are still receiving shipments and still selling them out in my local stores. Its not like Toshiba shipped them 3 for the year and said see you in 2007. HD DVD and Blu-ray are both destined to be niche products for awhile, but HD DVD is carving quite a nice niche its first month on the market.
Toshiba planned to do small shipments until September so its not like any of this is unexpected.
Expect Blu-ray players to ship in limited quantities as well this year. PS3 will be the big release for Blu-ray with its estimated 4 million by the end of the year, but with no HDMI on the $499 model that kills half of those as real movie players and who knows how large of a percentage of PS3 owners will be big Blu-ray movie buyers. Both formats will have very slow starts and I doubt either will be a factor with the war hurting them and HDTVs still only in 20% of homes. These are formats that will blossom in 3-4 years when HDTV is in the majority of american homes.

Sorry, but a launch with 2-3 units per store isnt a launch, its a "lets put these out and hope people buy them, if they do, we'll make more" vs a "we're launching a new worldwide standard, players are available in stores and come get some!". Thats just how i see it tho.

Stores can't keep the players in stock, so they mus be doing something right.
We'll see how different the PS3's launch is from this one.
I might be wrong, but I read the "titles sitting" comment to mean that titles for both formats will be abundant and ripe for price reduction. But I guess I am not in 24x7 "Defender of Blu-Ray" mode like some.

Yes, they will. Not sure when the dual layered discs will be out but the players will be ready.
