Smile my perfect home theater

I decided to play with some fantasy here. I will start with an average 16 by 20 room----that has pre existing coffee color plush carpet and white walls----a bay window and entry door on one wall----open to dinning on other end---and hallway to bedrooms on opposite from dinning. That is a customary living room set up for many homes. To optimize both sound and decor----I will use the long wall accross from bay window for my system. The walls would be painted a darker taupe--with white trim. In rthe bay window I would put a nice table with lamp--plants and a director chair on either side in Black--about 4 foot away---a nice 45 degree angle sectional---also black---high backed---maybe incliners and cup holders. The corner of sectional would align with bay window. Starting from either side of system--on ceiling---I would attach a hospital like curtain bar extending out in an elongated u shape to behind rthe sectional. just in front of the U shape---- a hand made speaker box with tack type lighting cans on bottom side. this box would be as long a curve as couch itself and white. The whole system wall would be shelved out to accomidate small---dvd insert holders---some books---candles--- cactas----essential oils and decanters and the remote caddy. there would be along bottom all garage door type compartment for dvd player---reciever--ps 3 and controllers-- and center sub whoofer and side speakers.--this would be painted black laquer. The double sided black drape would go completely around sectional from system wall---ceiling to floor and for day use would be pulled back to tie back arm on either side of system---a thin batting in between the fabric would make great accoustics. The walls would display black and white posters of old movie stars---framed in Black laquer.behind the sectional would be a matching curve black laquer couch table---displaying white dogwood branches in black with white blossoms. In front of the sectional would be a black floor rug with some white and taupe in it. Under the couch table would be black and white bean bags.

well--thats my pic of my perfect theater room---Whats yours??

That's beautiful. Mine would be earthy tones -- dark reds, chocolate browns, and evergreens. The couch would be comfy, and the pictures simple. Maybe some Ansel Adams on the wall. The carpet would be soft, like you said, and there would definitely be bean bags. The TV would be big but not overwhelming, and the sound system would come out of every corner of the room. I'd also find a place for a hidden fridge and pantry.

interesting....whenever I envision my perfect home theater room, I see it as dark, no windows, everything framed in so that the front of the tv and all its peripherials are flush mounted with the wall. Tiered theater seating with plush couches rather than theater seats. A hidden access so that I could get to any of the hidden cables and connections. And as sound-proof as possible. I haven't decided on the rope-lighting on the floor and walls but I would definitely go for the dimming theater lights.
