Hey there all,

I recently bought an older Atheros wifi card (Gigabyte WIAG02), and it seemed to hog an abnormal amount of CPU regardless of what version driver I put on there. On my 2200BG, my system would hop from 0 to 2% cpu consumption, whereas the atheros would be 4% to 10% constant.

It didn't bother me much, until I launched some games. Games ran much slower, 10 to 15 FPS on average less, and my 3dmark score dropped down 300 points. The system also felt generally more sluggish, took a bit longer to boot, but again, it could have been a placebo effect. Also, the wifi light on my Dell M170 would just randomly blink( could be blinking on activity, but it got annoying).

Nevertheless, I decided just to swap it out and put the intel 2200bg back in there. Things were back to normal, but my network connectivity went back to suffering.

Anyway, after hearing the rave reviews from this community about the new atheros 5006XS card, I ordered one. So, have any of you experienced any of this same behavior on your 5006XS card? No sluggish behavior? No random blinking wifi light? Games/3dmark didn't change?
