Lightbulb putting a yonah in a desktop (and other questions)?

just found out that the duo core processors in laptops are socket 478, the same as the older p4 cpus. I have a 4-year old p4 2.0ghz that recently had a mobo upgrade (abit IS7-E2

http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/...es=1&model=164

which i think is fairly decent.

so i was thinking of an upgrade for the old desktop and i plan to get 1 or 2gigs of ram (currently at 512) and maybe upgrade the processor. a 2.8 northwood goes for about $110 on the net, and a t2400 is in the range of $300.

1) is the t2400 supported by my mobo?
2) what are the performance differences between the 2.8 northwood vs the t2400?
3) is the t2400 worth $200 more than the northwood?
