The Eurocom M590K Emperor is being praised for its 19-inch screen, but it weighs in at 17.7 pounds, including the AC adapter. Gurus are callign it anything but mobile. Still, it has a great disply, and it supposedly has the best in-class gaming performance along with top-shelf SLI engine and a solid assortment of A/V features and connections.

The cons: besides the weight, it's expensive ($5430) -- that, by the way, is 20% of what the average teacher makes annually in South Dakota.

Other cons can be overlooked if the prices were lesser but due to price only it will get beaten up by the products of other manufactures, although the features are nice.

The real crime here is the salary they are paying teachers. That's awful. Parents spend all kinds of money to get their kids gadgets and balk at paying teachers what they are worth. It's disgusting.

Preach it, technochick. I'm a teacher, and while I'm not complaining about my salary because I have a pretty good school, I do get frustrated with the "you only work 9-months out of the year" argument that goes along with the low pay discussion.

I have a heavy laptop and it doesn't bother me any. Personally I don't know why the weight of a laptop is such a big deal- I guess I don't travel enough for this to matter.
