Default Microsoft Vista vs. Microsoft XP

Symantec just came out with a report stating that a number of Vista's software components, specifically a handful of protocols related to redesigned networking technologies, could become security loopholes if Microsoft does not fix the problems or ensure that the product is configured appropriately to hide the glitches when it is shipped.

Has anyone else heard about similar problems with Vista?

It's still too early to make any real comparisons. XP at release would be abysmal if compared to XP today. It's not a fair comparison.

I agree with that. As I read the Symantec's report, I felt like they were premature in judging Vista's capabilities. I guess some people are just hungry for news of any sort.

It's been a long wait for this product - hope everyone gives it a chance.

Smile Little bit from me

I agree with all the suggestion posted here, because Microsoft also knows about the pros and cons of security related issues because it has fixed many in Windows Xp so when it has launched a new OS it will definately fix that problems and will also provide some more so that it don't get affected sooner. One thing is also there that as the days are passing, hackers ar may say crackers are finding out new-new viruses, trojan horses, etc. so it cannot be predefined that what going to be happen next and cannot provide the solution to it before it really happens.

Default Vista vs. XP

I agree that they need to give it a chance but I do hope that they did a better job than they did with Me. I had nothing but problems with Me, and ended up having to buy XP just to be able to work with my computer it was causing me so many problems. I guess I will probably be staying with XP anyway, the operating systems are so expensive and nothing I have will likely work with Vista and I certainly won't be able to afford to buy new everything! I will be curious as to what the actual differences will be though. One of the people that I work with is going to be going to a presentation about it in a couple of weeks I guess.

I'm just hoping that it lasts longer than ME. It seemed for a while, about five years ago, we had the choice of 98, ME, or XP. If you chose 98 or ME, you were obselete within a year.

ME was a poor idea from the start, a cash-in of sorts.

Well then you gotta feel sorry for the poor suckers (like my husband and me) who have a computer with that operating system.

Yeah, sorry. I hated ME and had so many problems with it. Had to invest in something else. I hope that you are having better luck than I was.
