Default Compatibility issue with G4 MMD (ATY RV250) and Apple Studio Desplay 17"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all, My 17" Apple Display doesn't work above OS 10.3.3. And i need to resolve this problem. I've been told that i may need to change the card (ATY RV250) but i was wondering if i can get around it with a firmware update. Has anyone else had this problem?

Would be greatfull for some advise!

My machine at work is also a MDD, running Mac OS X 10.4.7 with a 17" studio display from Apple (CRT screen with ADC connector), and I never heard of an issue with those screens not being able to be used with anything above 10.3.3

I know this is a strange problem and very frustrating.. I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone to Apple care and they had no idea why it was happening!
Is your graphics card The same? In the system profile of mine it says it's the ATY RV250 which is apparently the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro with 64MB of DDR SDRAM .

Your Video Card is the Radeon 9000 AGP. Most of the MDD's came with that very card and they run Tiger just fine. I seem to remember something only about some of the CRT ADC monitors having problems with the Apple ADC to DVI converter box. Otherwise I have never seen your problem. Is that ADC CRT monitor plugged straight into the ADC port on the ATI card?

hello richard here I was having trouble connecting my Windows XP PC to my Mac OS network (I'm using Leopard 10.5.8 and Snow Leopard). I searched the web, your site came up, but nothing worked. I googled to my fingers got sore.

My machine is running absolutely fine. Till date, I haven’t heard of any issue with the screens not being able to be used with anything above 10.3.3.
