Any free sound editors?
Is there any free sound editors I can use for os x all I want to do is make a mp3 ringtone for my phone which means shorten the song to the chorus and turn the bit rate down? Is there any free sound editors I can use?

Well stupid me now deleated it off my iBook since I didnt think I would use it, any 3rd party apps?

Did you miss my post? Audacity works great and it's free. I use it all the time for editing audio files of all kinds.

hey do you know what I am doing wrong, when I make my ringtone the total seconds after editing the selection is 18 seconds wrong I export it open it up in quicktime and it is exactly 18 seconds long like I made it, but the file is still 4.2 mb's I even set the project rate to 11025, do you no why the file is still to big?

What format are you saving in for the Ringtones?
Edit: Opps, you said in your first post! mp3. You can in iTunes set the bit rate way down and make it smaller. I usually just use Audacity to do my editing and get it to sound the way I want it. Will do some checking though but check the preferences in iTunes. You can drop the bit rate way down. I did it for some audiobooks I made for a friend who needed them real small.

I just tried it in itunes and got it real small. There is another editor that will run forever in trial mode that will allow you to save as an MP3 and set the bit rate as you save. It's called Amadeus for OSX. I usually just use Audacity as I feel more at home in it and use iTunes later to make it smaller.
