I have a Powerbook G4 running OSX 10.4.2. I installed Classic OS from the CD that came with the computer. Then installed a couple of OS 9 applications. They worked fine for a while until recently when they stopped opening as applications and started opening as TextEdit documents (lots of gibberish text). I tried re-installing Classic, rebuilding the Classic desktop, and also did a "Get Info" on each to see if I could fix the problem using the "Open With" option. When I tried the Open With option, the application name was not in the list of choices, only TextEdit, Script Editor, etc.

What could have happened to cause the applications to stop working?
