Hi! I thought I'd join the forum as I have a bit of a dilemma... I'll be going into my third year of uni soon and I've recently been practicing with augmented reality which is pretty fun to play around with. I'm fine with the interface and design side, although I need a different, unique visual unit. I want to do something a little different for my project which involves creating a headset which can be used as a monitor.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AKgH4On65A - this is the only example that I could find. The man in this video is using iWear technology which is around £100-£200 - a little too expensive for one module. Is there any way of replicating a visual headset that could achieve the same effect? Basically I need a small VDU with a camera that can be imported into a laptop or desktop. The camera records the perspective of the user - the information is sent to a desktop/laptop and then sent back to the VDU that the user is wearing. The user will then be able to view the 3D environment.
I'm not fussed about wires or design - it's all a prototype for a 12 week module. I just need to know if there are 5-8" monitors out there that can be used for this purpose - and how possible is this concept?
Thankyou!
