Default Sam's Club Monitor

I saw a monitor at the local warehouse store but it was not a name brand. I was just wondering what everyone thought about buying electronics from those types of stores?

The retailer has nothing to do with the quality, it's the manufacturer/model that counts.

I agree that the store doesn't matter. You can just as easily by a good name brand at Circuit City as you can from Walmart.

But make sure the product is backed by a good warranty.

I know that sometimes it isn't always possible. But it does help to talk to a knowledgeabe person or at least visit with one before you buy. Cell phones are really great that way. I can go into a store and if something is on sale and sounds like a good deal I call my son n law the computer expert and talk to him. He has even talked to the salesperson for me. So it does pay to be prepared that way

It's also a good idea to read product reviews and talk to people who can recommend the best brand. Then you can do price comparisons at the different stores.

Default Monitor

I also think it depends on what piece you are buying. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a monitor at Sam's Club or Wal-Mart, to me at least a monitor is a monitor if it has the measurements and features that you want. You know pixels etc. Actually, I am not so sure that I wasn't happier with the computer that I bought at Wal-Mart than I am with the one I have right now that I didn't.

I agree that the store doesn't matter, to an extent. Stores like Wal-Mart, etc. don't usually offer extended warranties to purchasers. Since I live out in the middle of nowhere, I like to buy the extended warranties that offer home service, so I don't have to worry about sending it in.

To add to that "living in the middle of nowhere" comment, utilizing online resources can be helpful as well, like tigerdirect.com. This has led me to a bunch of different great deals, but the warranty will make the product worth the good buy.

Default Monitor/Extended Warranty

I can see your point with extended warranties. I do purchase them on computer items but I can rarely get one here where someone will come to the house. I don't purchase them on most things though because I consider them a waste of money for the most part. Like I said though on computers and vehicles I do purchase them. I feel like they are worth it in those two circumstances. Turns out that I am very glad that I did with my lap top computer. I will never purchase the brand that I have again. Learning the hard way I guess.
