Default frustrated-please help

i have a gateway solo 2150 laptop p3 500 mhz,288 mb ram,xp pro which works fine.i have a belkin wireless card in it.i have cable internet,but i used to connect also to a neighbor wireless connection. when he moved i installed a di-524 d-link wireless router.now the problem:the moment i try to connect to my wireless connection the laptop freezes.i tried everything to solve this problem.i can connect even with another ancient laptop w/o problems.it's frustrating.my lapyop works with other wireless networks
please help

That's a bit wierd, what model of Belkin wireless card is it?

i did try also without any security.the moment i try to connect,the laptop freezes

Hi there, from what you are saying the laptop and new Belkin wireless card work ok on other wireless networks? If this is true I would suspect maybe there could be an incompatibility problem with the security/encryption. Have you tried disabling the security on the Dlink? If this works I would make sure the Belkin card is running the latest drivers. If it is then set your Dlink to basic 64Bit wep as just about everything is compatible with that.

What model of card is it? I'd suggest hunting down some reference drivers for it.

If yours is revision 2 or later it should use a Ralink chipset. You can download a reference driver directly from the Ralink website http://www.ralinktech.com/drivers/Wi...05_1.0.2.0.exe

The 1st revision of that card uses a Broadcom BCM94306 chipset which won't work with the above driver, see how you get on with that one for now anyway.
