WiFi on the farm
My husband and I have been renovating an old 1800's acreage for the past three years, and I dream about having my office in one of the old buildings that we are currently renovating. I'm stoked about the possibility of actually having an internet connection out there as well thanks to stronger wifi signals. Does anyone have suggestions for a wireless router that would reach a few hundred feet and through a few walls?

If you really want no problems, better off to have lines put in out to your other building, especially if it is that far from the house.

Most of the performance reviews I have seen on wireless routers say that signal strength and speed is severely affected when you move over 50ft away from them.

That bites. We had a decent wireless router before we lost all but dialup capabilities. A November snow storm knocked down our wireless service's tower, and they went out of business as a result. At any rate, the router we had then claimed to reach up to 1/4 of a mile. Seriously. I suppose I could sweet talk my husband into getting a line out in the chicken coop. . .
