Workgroup Problem
Hi PC Wizzards....
I have a problen with my network, I have 15 computers connecting on it,
and whenever they log on the Server, an error will occur that says " Cannot connect to server beacuse there are as many as computer that the server can handle...."
Is there a limit of computer on a workgroup?
thanks in advance

Do you have a server operating system? Is this peer to peer? Please advise if your exact network setup. Hardware, OS, etc.

Yes there is a limit, 10 connections is the limit for 2k Pro or XP pro. Windows home is 5. What OS is the "Server?" Is that the exact error message?

Im using Windows XP SP2 on all 15 computer, and I have an accounting program that uses Peer to Peer, and we have one server that carries the data, all the data that has been entered in the workstation will be inputed in our server. But when all of the workstation are logged to the server, and if I view the network in the network places, it will appear that the server reaches to its limit of computer connection can handdle.
thank you for repying.....

Is the server running a server OS like Windows 2000 Server? or is it a regular PC that is acting as a server?

Then the most you can connect to any server is 10 computers. You will have to upgrade to a server os. Please describe in more detail what you are doing with this PC. What is the application.

That really doesn't matter in this case. The problem is that any version of Windows, including server versions, will only allow for a certain number or concurrently connected PCs. If that number is already connected, and a new computer tries to connect the connection will be refused.
