Is this server pointing to itself only for DNS and is it the DNS server?
1.7GB roaming profile? that sounds a little bit to big to be viable for roaming end users you should slim that down by using folder redirection and not putting IE cache and stuff in the profile. The log in time would be just painful with that size of profile.

One of the errors is that it was unable to auto register itself with DNS so in TCP/IP settings under DNS server IP addresses it needs its own IP address in there if it is the DNS server for the domain so it can create the needed DNS records. *Cough* My opinion on firefox is based on corporate installations and management and from that avenue I side IE. Some say Firefox is much better in security by way of being faster at getting patches out, that may be true however how fast can the admin get the patches deployed to 1500 computers and verify the update is another feat of its own. (WSUS rocks hehe!) however they both store the user info in the profile so changing the settings will make the profile much smaller. (why move around their internet cache?)

would need to know exactly what you did and what if anything changed to try and help any further. You need to be very specific. for example just changing the DNS will not work you have to reboot machine for the auto DNS registration to work.

Well there you go, that is NOT what I said to do. you need to manualy put its own IP address in that field because for active directory you need an internal DNS server and your ISPs DNS server will not work for this application. However you did not verify you are even running active directory and that error could be just nothing. Are you trying to run active directory? The errors sure look like you setup a domain.

Then you must change the DNS to itself, all computers in the domain and the server MUST use that machine as its DNS server you can not use your ISPs!!!
heres the deal on the server set its IP address static (do NOT set it to obtain from your router!), next use the same IP address in the DNS field! all computers in the domain must have their DNS field pointing to this server also so the can locate the domain controller, next in the DNS settings of the DNS server you setup a forwarder to your ISPs DNS server so anything that machine cant resolve is sent to your ISPs DNS server. Does this make sense?
