XP LAN + Firewall
When I tried accessing the computers in my network, they arent accessible. The firewall is enabled in each node, is it the reason?
I use obtain ip auto
ICS works for the 5 PC
but when i tried accessing them from the same workgroup although they showed up, but they arent accessible.
I use a switch

You need to have the right permissions to access files in Windows 2k and XP. You have to have something shared. There could be many reasons why it doesn't work. But, if you see them and cannot access them does it give you an error message when you try?

when i 2click on my Workgroup icon, all the PCs will show up,
but when i try opening/accessing it, there will be an error message "Folder inaccessible.............." , of course every PC had shared documents so something should show up.

Xp Pro uses file permissions. XP Home does Simple File Sharing. This topic has been discussed here ad nauseam - I advise a search on this site or google for "File sharing with windows xp pro"
You have two basic choices security or no security.

Sounds like your changing the configuration in some way. The firewall is probably not the issue. Turning it off and seeing the problem fixes itself usually tells you pretty quickly.
Computers tend to do one thing or the other, when problems go back and forth you either have a physical wiring/connection issue with hardware causing intermittent connectivity or a user issue, in which the configuration is changing.

just a query...
isnt it that the firewall hides the ip adds of the clients on the network, or subnet?
im using
xp dhcp, and
trend micro internet security firewall - direct connection for each pc

Doesn't hide the IP it can block connections.

So your saying when you turn off the windows firewall you share internet but when you turn it on it fails? This doesn't sound right. ICS works with Windows Firewall.
