Default How to install OS on laptop with no CD-Drive or floppy???

Hi...I have a laptop that is currently running Windows XP. I want to downgrade and install Windows 2000 but the problem is that the laptop doesnt have a CD-Drive or floppy. Is there any way I can install Windows 2000 to this laptop? I called Sony but those Text support people wanted me to send it end and have them fix it but I need my laptop for work and it was rediculous what they wanted to charge me..Please help

your only hope is to get an external cd drive or usb drive and install that way

Hi Friend,
You can boot through USB. Download FreeDOS and make a bootable DOS USB Key. Copy OS installer on this.Then move over to other laptop, boot from DOS and install Windows 2000.

I suggest you use an external CD room that connects just like a USB. That is something common nowadays. If you are in a lower budget, you can always use a USB and download what madison has suggested. For me, the CD room would be great because you can still have it for future use. Besides, external CD rooms nowadays have become handy in size.

you can copy os from other system using your laptop hard disk as slave . you need some program called ghost to do this.

If you can boot via your network card you might be able to install Linux or BSD over the network.

Btw - beware installing windows 2000 - there are no more windows security updates coming out for it. If you're connecting it to the net you will have a tough time with viruses and the like.

Try to add it using Flash Disk or if the laptop does not support it, then upload it online and download it or send the files using e-mail. Also memory card can be helpful.
