Hi all.

I've been running networked broadband in my house for about 2 years without problems. This week however, the 3 other PCs accessing the internet through the gateway computer have had trouble accessing websites at certain times even though the gateway computer has had no problems doing so itself. Interestingly, the connection to the LAN isn't been totally cut off - programs like MSN Messenger remain working, but any attempt to access http pages fails. Today I tried changing the PC hosting the internet to a different one, but the problem has remained though, and the other 3 trying to access through the gateway are having problems.

The network is wired, so there shouldn't be a problem with signals etc - I assume the problem is something to do with the way the LAN is configured, but if it is, why has it only occured now, and why does the problem only occur now and again?

Does anybody now how to correct this?

PS: I think the connection on the other PCs may be lost when the gateway itself is inactive (not browsing basically), but I don't really have any solid evidence to prove this...

PPS: All PCs are running Windows XP, two of them are running SP2. The Network was set up using Windows XPs wizard.

Did you manage to resolve your problem? As i have exactly the same trouble!! Try netsh winsock reset catalog followed by a reboot, this has always worked for me.
