Default Online poker

Any one ever done this? It seems like a pretty scary concept. I've read and heard how many college-age students especially are getting hooked on this phenomenon . . . and losing money in the process. It seems to liken itself to video lottery, except the game is right there in your own home.

I have never played online poker, I too am a little scared. I used to get pop -ups trying to intice me to play. If you ask me there are already enough people with gambling problems without having the problem in their own home. It was bad enough before when they had to go to the actual lottery machine, but now they can do it from home. Some of the things you can do on the internet are scary. I have a sister who is getting ready to go to college and its scary to think that she could become one of those college kids to get hooked on it. It's no wonder kids these days get in some much trouble, look around and see what kind of influences they have. There are bad things every you turn. There is no hiding form it.

I've never played on-line poker for money. A game site I belong to has poker, but you win tokens when you play games and they are what you use to do the betting.

I play on AOL GAMES and Gamesville where it costs you nothing and You are in a safe environment where you can play for tokens and put them into a drawing for cash prizes at the end of the month... also GV rewards and if you turn those in you can win tv's and other cool stuff... ITS LIKE AN ADULTS HAPPY MEAL lol

I still have a problem with online poker. Some people will say, "I'm only playing for tokens," but in the end, that person is still betting. He takes the risk of tempting himself to bet real cash eventually.

I suppose in some cases that does happen.

I play for tokens. I live in an area where there are casinos within a couple of hours of hwere I live. I've been there, but it doesn't interest me. I've been there once, stayed about 15 minutes, and was ready to leave. I have no desire to go back.

I'm not saying that it can't happen, though.

I suppose anything is possible. I really believe each of us has our own weaknesses, so those with a weakness towards gambling should be careful. Kind of like if I've ever had a desire to drink great amounts of alcohol, I shouldn't hang out at a bar.

Don't really know how to play poker so I guess I don't really understand the online poker craze (or the tv poker craze for that matter).
