Default BF1942 install problem

buthi all im trying to install a brand new copy of bf1942 when installing (at 39%) it gives the following error:" specified component cannot be found in the media. an attempt was made to acess a component that does not exist in the anmed media." and then installation is aborted. i tried making a image mounting and install off there no good i tried installing from HD no good. i just have no idea what the problem is my cds are BRAND new

Look at the CD and see if there are any scratches or marks, etc. Try installing the game on another computer (ask a friend, if you don't have another system at home). If the game doesn't work on the second system, then you most likely have a bad disc, and you should take it back and get a replacement. This does happen from time to time.

I have tried installing it on three different PC'S and they all give the same error but i have 2 copies of this game on i bought a while ago and one i just got for a gift like its brand new nothing is wrong with it im stumped lol i have a disc doctor and tried using that but it didnt work either

So does neither copy of the game work on any of the three computers? Or is it just the new copy which gives the errors? If it is just the new copy, then the problem is the disc, and you need to take it back and get a replacement.

Yeah it would seem unlikely that it's the disk, but I have seen defective media before and that could easily be what we're seeing here, especially as the problem is across different machines.

It is both games on like every pc ive tried it on. and i dont understand becuse ive installed with the old one before on this pc and the cd even the old one isnt that scratched up like its almost fine i used my disc doctor on it and it still doesnt work..ALL I WANNA DO IS PLAY DESERT COMBAT LOL

i think its working!!! i used my disc docotor on it TWICE lol and its asking for the second disc now..nope...did the error.

As others have said, you should be able to return it to the store where you bought it and get a new copy. If you explain that the discs failed on multiple computers, the store should let you exchange it, and then they can deal with EA.

cd rom drives are cheap...

have you tried all these cd's in the same drive?
the drive might just be bad.

ya i might but i dont have the recipt or box or anything so i dont know i might just say forget it and pick a used on up at EB there like 10 bucks lol or see if anyone can make me a ISO for the discs because i have 2 cd keys but i cant install it! lol
