After hearing about the PS3 and XBox 360 hardware I think the reality is that PC gaming will now be on a fast decline. There are no longer any advantages. Resolution is the same, wireless networking is the same, HD output the same , multiplayer the same etc. The only difference between the PC and console games will now be price- with the price factor in favor of the console. I see no incentive for game develpowers to invest in pc titles at all now. At least I'll be saving some money now......

The mouse n' keyboard is enough for me to keep it. But yes, the new generation of consoles just got a bigger advantage with that kind of hardware... It's nice to see where good competition leads these days

consoles can never keep up with PC technology..besides how does consoles do MMORPG and get updates?

There are several things that will keep PC gaming alive 'n kicking:

Moddability- most console games just aren't moddable.

The intimacy of the player and the monitor. Most of the time I prefer to be close to the game and looking at the computer monitor.

It's just a matter of time until PC hardware eclipses the new gen console hardware.

The monitor is a high definition device- most tvs aren't, so PC games will look better regardless. Also, higher resolutions on most monitors over tvs.

I'll be intrigued to see if a mouse and keyboard combo could be worked into the PS3... especially considering its whole USB and connect to everything under the sun standards. What is to stop you from connecting your LCD monitor, mouse and keyboard to your PS3 and playing UT3 full res on the PS3?

I don't think that PC gaming is going to offer an experience that is worth 3 or 4 X (or more) the money over consoles any more. A mouse/keyboard and the "intimacy" of the monitor is not going to be enough to justify spending $1000.00 or more over what a console costs. I personally feel this is going to trickle down and eventually hurt the hardcore gaming pc market. This may explain why Nvidia has diversified it's product offering outside of just GPU's the last few years- they see this coming.

The PS3 can do all that (hell the PS2 could minus the Physics Chip), The PS3 doesn't need a dedicated chip for Physics due to the Cells multi core setup.
