I tried the patch out just before, and I have to say that I'm very happy with the changes id software have made to Quake4. I found it a lot easier to gain and maintain speed than Quake3, and the rockets move at the perfect speed now The new napalm launcher is PHAT! it's this big fireball you lob at people and if they walk over the fire, they burn If you hit them directly with it they take damage over time... it's pretty slow - fires a ball of flame every 1.5 seconds or so - the distance on it is pretty huge.
From id's site: "Experience the new and improved player movement and weapon balancing. Players are now more agile with increased mobility, control and the ability to gain speed faster. Shotguns have a wider spread, hyperblasters have a faster projectile, nailgun has reduced damage and faster projectiles, rockets are faster and smaller and the lightning gun has less knockback."
The new gametype looks very intense. Basically you pick up a rune and stand in a square in the centre of the map and you get 1 point per 1 second standing in the square.. but I suggest you read the notes on id's site to get a better view of it.
ATTENTION: new r_forceAmbient command means people with older pc's can get a huge performance boost in Quake4. Try r_forceAmbient .4 or higher... the colors and textures are a bit worse but the performance boost is huge about 30fps increase for some people.
As soon as the latest Q4MAX version comes out for the new patch I'll be getting some servers organised for the Demolition Cup, and we'll be able to give it a try. ID Software I salute you.
