Default EA Shutting Down Servers

For those of you who like to play some older games on-line, listen up. EA announced that it will be shutting down servers for some their older games. August 1 and October 1 are the shutdown dates. The company announced that some gaming groups may discontinue the games sooner.

Why are they doing this if so many people like to play them?

I suppose it's to promote interest in the newer games. As big as EA is, it can't be that they have limited server space.

Another possibility is that the number of players has declined on these servers. Like any business, if it's not profitable, they will discontinue it.

Do you think they will produce those games in syndication, like re-runs on tv
