I just finished playing Far Cry and have played at least 75% of HL2. I personally think Far Cry is the better game(bar the Grav Gun) in terms of Gameplay. I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion is? I know PC Gamer gave HL2 a better rating but that surely does not matter too much.

I don’t think you can really compare the 2 games because they are totally different kinds of games yes they are both FPS but with totally different kinds of game play and story. and they are 2 years apart I don’t know about you guys but I cant really answer this question because I love both games but just in different ways sense the are totally different games.

I think when you compare games it should be more like witch is bettor Doom3 or F.E.A.R because these are both the same kind of game.

hl2 and far cry are less then two years apart they were both released during the late 5 series early 6 series (nvidia)

Gotta be farcry, HL2 felt too on rails for most of it, like call of duty did, both those games (HL2 and call of duty) seemed perfect console games where as farcry made you realise why you have a PC in the first place.

I'm not saying that Far-Cry isn't an awesome game, because it is. I'm just saying HL2 is better.

Far Cry in my opinion. I've played plenty of games too simular to Half-Life 2 and when I played it, it'd didn't feel all that new to me. Sure the physics were something new to the FPS world, but FarCry was a completely new game, came out of the box with nearly everything you could want in a FPS.

I too think that HL2 has the slight edge. It's just a beefier game, but the thing that really got me hooked on it was the first time I killed a combine guard in City 17. I loved how their life support suits made those noises when the guys would die. Right when I first heard that, I knew it was going to be a cool game. It gives you such a sense of atmosphere, and the story is so awesome. I agree the AI isn't great, but hey, it's not as bad as GRAW, right?

However, I also loved Far Cry. The graphics were revolutionary, the action was fun and varied. The story was a little lame and the voice acting was terrible. But it was really fun to play games with the enemies by throwing rocks to distract them or run a perimeter around their camps to pick them off.

But yes, HL2>FarCry.
