Default Random access memory

Random-access memory (usually known by its acronym, RAM) refers to data storage formats and equipment that allow the stored data to be accessed in any order — that is, at random, not just in sequence. In contrast, other types of memory devices (such as magnetic tapes, disks, and drums) can access data on the storage medium only in a predetermined order due to constraints in their mechanical design.

Hi,
Random access memory or RAM most commonly refers to computer chips that temporarily store dynamic data to enhance computer performance. By storing frequently used or active files in random access memory, the computer can access the data faster than if it to retrieve it from the far-larger hard drive. Random access memory is also used in printers and other devices.

Thanks,
James

This is a good food for thought. Good to know guys and great of you to have opened this up. I have been working with my computer for a long time and yet I don't know the stuff inside it. It is good that you actually mentioned the meaning and uses for these hardware inside the case. A lot of people would tend to just get their hands on computers without even getting to know them.

Thanks for the information. I have had PCs all my life and didn't really know the difference between hard drive memory and RAM memory. A lot of people get the two confused!

Check out Computer Memory

Random-access memory (RAM) is a form of computer data storage. Today, it takes the form of integrated circuits that allow stored data to be accessed in any order (i.e., at random). "Random" refers to the idea that any piece of data can be returned in a constant time, regardless of its physical location and whether or not it is related to the previous piece of data.[

Random access memory, a kind of PC memory that accessed at random any byte of memory accessed without touching preceding bytes. RAM is most general kind of memory found in PCs and other devices, like printers.

RAM is the one time of the computer chip which are used to improve the computer speed as it can store the dynamic data of the use temporarily. As if you have the large amount of ram then your PC work faster. As RAM can increase the speed or the performance of the PC.

RAM is the temporary memory used by the PC while working as it can affects the speed or the performance of the PC. So you must need the upgraded RAM in your PC.

It is a computer storage device which allows you to access data in any order or sequence. You can return data in a constant time irrespective of its location.
