By storing frequently used or active files in random access memory, the computer can access the data faster than if it to retrieve it from the far-larger hard drive. This is a good food for thought. Good to know guys and great of you to have opened this up. I have been working with my computer for a long time and yet I don't know the stuff inside it. It is good that you actually mentioned the meaning and uses for these hardware inside the case. A lot of people would tend to just get their hands on computers without even getting to know them.

Thanks for the information. I have had PCs all my life and didn't really know the difference between hard drive memory and RAM memory. A lot of people get the two confused!
