Default sound card

Also called a "sound board" or "audio adapter," it is a plug-in card that records and plays back sound. Supporting both digital audio and MIDI, sound cards provide an input port for a microphone or other sound source and output ports to speakers and amplifiers. Sound circuits are typically built into the chipset on the motherboard, but can be disabled if a separate sound card is installed. See Sound Blaster, AC'97 and HD Audio.

A Sound Card is also known as Audio Card or Sound Board. It is the part of computer hardware that manages the Input and Output of the Sound Signals. Sound card enables the computers to play sounds through speakers connected to board, record sound from the microphones. Sound card supports two basic methods to translate digital signals to analog signals. First is FM Synthesis and Second is Wave table Synthesis.

A sound card (also known as an audio card) is an internal computer expansion card that facilitates the input and output of audio signals to and from a computer under control of computer programs.

Confusingly, the term sound card is also applied to external audio interfaces that use software to generate sound, as opposed to using hardware inside the PC. These software-based devices are better known as audio interfaces.

An expansion board that enables a computer to manipulate and output sounds. Sound cards are necessary for almost all of the disks and have become commonplace in modern personal computers. Sound cards allow the computer audio output through the speakers attached to Board ', record audio input from a microphone connected to your computer and manipulate sound stored on a disk.
