Default Blackberry?

I know that some of you can answer this one b/c you've been discussing the product vaguely, but I still don't quite understand it.

What makes a Blackberry different from a regular PDA? Or is it just another PDA brand? If so, what makes it user-friendly or desirable?

from what I understand the black berry offers a bit more then a PDA such as more saving space on it. You can also get Microsoft word or something like microsoft word on it.

Actually, a Blackberry is a PDA, it's just more advanced and with more options. Kind of like a cell phone with caller id, text messaging, camera, etc. The Blackberry can be used as a cellular phone, a PDA (it has a keypad so it is much easier to use than a regular PDA), email, you can use the web, calendar, there are so many things. You can also add programs into it. They are a little spendy though. It's funny, I was reading CNN news one day and there was an article about a hotel for Blackberry addiction. When you would check in, the owner would take your Blackberry. The purpose of this was because so many people get addicted to the Blackberry that they spend their whole day using it. The owner of the hotel had this problem and that's where the idea came from. So, while people were staying at this hotel, they had to find something else to do than use the Blackberry. They could have it back at any time. Several people have liked this idea and realized they were so preoccupied with this device they were getting very little of anything else done.

Interesting yellowbird. I've not heard of such hotels, but I can see why the hotel owner would be irked.

I have had only one encounter with a Blackberry user, and he was hearing impaired. I was interviewing him for a news article, and he explained that his Blackberry helped him to communicate with those that did not know sign language. So for the past two years I've just thought a Blackberry was a tool for the hearing impaired.

Is this hotel like going to a chemical addiction counceling place? I mean, if it isn't then wouldn't taking away the blackberry be an infringement on our rights?
